Taitem is hosting a one-time screening of the new documentary Catching the Sun, by filmmaker Shalini Kantayya at Cinemapolis on Wednesday, May 18 at 7:00 pm. The screening is free and open to the public. Taitem is supporting the United Way of Tompkins County and will be asking for donations to support Opportunities, Alternatives, and Resources of Tompkins County (OAR).
Through the stories of workers and entrepreneurs in the U.S. and China, Catching the Sun is a feature-length documentary that explores the global race to a clean energy future. The film follows the hope and heartbreak of unemployed American workers seeking jobs in the solar industry, and sheds light on the path to an economically just and environmentally sustainable future. Catching the Sun will leave audiences encouraged by the hope and possibility of a clean energy future, and inspired to bring that future into being.
Members of the team at Taitem Engineering will be there to host a Q & A discussion after the film.
Even if you’ll be unable to attend the screening we hope you will take a moment to make a donation to Opportunities, Alternatives, and Resources of Tompkins County. OAR is a longstanding community partner that provides services and advocacy for inmates in the Tompkins County Jail, ex-offenders, and offenders’ families to aid in their re-adjustment into the community.
